About us

The engineer hub

The Engineer hub teaches its members the use of real-world professional engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Fusion360, etc. The Engineering Club repeatedly leads its members in designing and producing various engineering projects in order to hone their proficiency in real-world projects. The projects produced will be used to serve the campus and help improve the campus environment. At the same time, the Engineering Club organizes engineering competitions for its members. We popularize engineering knowledge and famous, classic, ingenious, and universal engineering designs to raise public interest in engineering.

At engineer hub, you will learn

3D modeling

3D modeling (i.e., three-dimensional modeling) is the process of creating three-dimensional digital models of objects or scenes using computer software. These models are commonly used in a variety of fields such as animation, gaming, movies, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), industrial design, architectural design, medical imaging, and more.

“Engineering Around Us”

This regular activity aims to raise the awareness of the community members about the application of engineering in life. As an applied discipline, the application of engineering in life is obviously not to be ignored. From the ballpoint pens that students use every day to the airplanes they take when traveling, all of them contain the mysteries of engineering.

Short-term engineering projects

This regular activity is based on the PBL (Project Based Learning) activity in Physics for 10th and 11th grades. The purpose of this activity is to allow members to apply their engineering knowledge to solve real-life problems while improving their hands-on skills and engineering literacy.

Reunion Activities

Organize a meeting with engineering professionals or a corporate (CSSC) visit to enhance the students' understanding of the actual working environment (911 Institute). We plan to organize a corporate visit, especially to the 911 Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSSC).We have already contacted the relevant people and obtained the opportunity to visit the Institute.

Other activities

The Engineer hub will participate in large events on campus whenever possible. In this year's trial run, the Engineering Club participated in the Sino-French Cultural Week, introducing the structure of the Eiffel Tower and its role for wind protection with the help of their own 3d printed model of the Eiffel Tower.

Simulation software

We are sharing an engineering simulation software called Besiege (Siege) with the community during the semester. While this software would be considered by many to be a video game, it has a realistic physics engine that includes mechanics simulation, aerodynamics simulation with ocean simulation and an extremely high degree of freedom, making it ideal for use as an engineering simulation software.

Long-term activities

“Long-term Activities” is a comprehensive engineering club program that aims to enhance students' knowledge and hands-on abilities in the field of engineering, covering a wide range of areas such as 3D modeling, engineering around the world, short-term engineering projects, engineering simulation software, and group building activities. The activities are compactly designed, covering basic knowledge learning, hands-on practice, and linkage with other subject clubs, aiming at enabling students to not only master theories, but also improve their ability to solve real problems through practice.

Our product, the Betaboost, is a modular product that powers manual wheelchairs electrically. Essentially, the Betaboost consists of two brushed motors with rubber wheels that can be fitted to most manual wheelchairs on the market and power the rear wheels. This design effectively gets round problems with both manual and electrical wheelchairs, as well as outcompeting similar products in terms of cost, convenience, and portability.
